Imelda Fishing

The massive rain yesterday brought some good after all as residents living around the infamous Pasig River got a fair catch of imelda fish. Heavy torrents of rain turned the river water murky (it could get murkier?!) causing the said fishes to swim closer to the surface, making them easier to catch.

The imelda fish is said to be the favorite of our most beloved former first lady, thus the moniker. And the taste? True to its etymology, the batch caught from the Pasig River was “mataba at matabang.”
